Educational innovation with gamification and virtual reality in law: a procedural simulator for consumer law (law 1480)
This working paper compiles two prior contributions on pedagogical innovation in legal education through virtual reality (VR) and gamification, focusing on teaching the procedure established by Law 1480 (Consumer Protection Statute). It systematizes: (1) a paper describing the didactic experience and its foundations; and (2) a technical article presenting the functional VR prototype. The implementation was built in Unity (C#) and deployed via Viroo. The experience does not store personal data or telemetry: it only manages in‑session decisions and resets to its initial state when the session ends.
Pedagogically, the learner is immersed in a procedural scenario where they must recognize stages, requirements and minimal evidence, receiving immediate feedback on their choices. VR supports presence and situated learning, while gamification emphasizes clear goals, guided trial‑and‑error, and task‑based scaffolding. Preliminary observations suggest improved motivation and sequential understanding of the process, with opportunities to strengthen onboarding and indicator clarity at each step.
