Evaluation of the road safety culture and its impact on the operational performance of Transcastañeda
The road safety culture at TRANSCASTAÑEDA S.A.S., a special transport company certified under ISO 39001, has shown significant progress, evidenced by the absence of accidents in the last two years. However, areas such as continuous training, internal communication, and awareness of risky practices, particularly the use of cell phones while driving, need to be strengthened. In this context, this paper evaluates the impact of this culture on the company’s operational performance, aiming to identify improvement opportunities that optimize processes and reinforce sustainability. The research was conducted through surveys, interviews, and data analysis, with a sample of 21 employees out of a total population of 23. Key indicators such as accident rate, downtime, and transport-related costs were measured. The results reveal a significant reduction in these indicators, as well as a positive perception of the service, supported by data from the Alejandría platform. This diagnosis not only evaluates the effectiveness of the policies implemented but also proposes replicable strategies that can be adopted by other organizations in the transport sector.
