Improvement of the strategic plan of the quality processes in the software development life cycle in the area of testing and certification for the PDT company; by means of the tools of the PMBOK® guide.

The purpose of this research was to optimize the strategic plan of the testing and certification area in a Colombian technology company through the rigorous application of the principles and tools of the PMBOK® Guide (2021). Operational deficiencies were identified, including insufficient planning, lack of updated documentation in institutional repositories, and systematic loss of lessons learned. These shortcomings caused critical production errors, cost overruns due to corrective maintenance, and reduced reliability of technological products delivered to end users. To address these issues, a hybrid approach was applied, combining agile frameworks such as Scrum with elements of the traditional waterfall model, in order to ensure flexible, proactive, and adaptive management aligned with organizational needs. The results included strengthened defect traceability, preservation of technical knowledge, and optimization of operational documentation. In addition, staff turnover was reduced, and the reliability of technological deliverables improved significantly. Performance indicators and acceptance criteria aligned with international standards (ISO/IEC 25010) were also established, reinforcing data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement across iterative release cycles. Consequently, the company achieved higher-quality outcomes, enhancing its competitiveness and operational sustainability in the technology sector.
