Cultural identity in indigenous communities is undoubtedly a key aspect for strengthening educational settings that safeguard and protect the customs and cultural traditions that bring contextualized, student-centered educational processes to life, rooted in context and territory. In light of this, various issues are identified related to the integration of different cultural expressions and ancestral knowledge in the educational institutions within the indigenous reserves of the municipality of Riosucio-Caldas. However, despite the richness and cultural and knowledge diversity within these communities, the educational system, in most cases, overlooks this knowledge and focuses on cognitive aspects, which may lead to a loss of cultural identity and a decline in local traditions. Therefore, the research objective is to understand how the experiences of students at the John F. Kennedy Educational Institution, part of the Nuestra Señora Candelaria de la Montaña Indigenous Reserve, are brought to life.
