TIERRACACHAMA: CULTIVO SOSTENIBLE EN ESTANQUES EN TIERRA” EN LA VEREDA BETULIA MOMIL-CÓRDOBA
The municipality of Momil has experienced a decline in fish resources in recent years, leading to an unmet demand for fish meat. TIERRACACHAMA is a sustainable project located in the Betulia rural area, Momil, Córdoba, aimed at revitalizing the local economy through the cultivation of cachamas in earth ponds. This venture will create 2 direct jobs and 10 indirect ones, while also meeting the population's food demand.
Through a quantitative methodology and surveys, it was determined that the average fish consumption in the municipality is 8 kilos per family per month, with an unmet demand from 20,094 inhabitants. TIERRACACHAMA plans to cover 96% of this population by farming 13,000 cachamas and harvesting 5,148 kilos of fish, to be sold at 9,000 pesos per kilo, generating 46,332,000 pesos per harvest. With three annual harvests, projected revenues are 138,996,000 pesos per year, with production costs of 27,835,000 pesos and a net profit of 15,713,500 pesos per harvest, demonstrating the financial viability of the project.
