3rd International Virtual Symposium on Philosophy and Education

The proceedings of the 3rd International Virtual Symposium on Philosophy and Education bring together presentations, reflections, and discussions centered on the theme “One Crisis After Another: How Philosophy and Education Respond,” organized by the Bachelor’s Program in Philosophy at UNAD. The volume addresses contemporary issues related to global crises, social inequality, war, climate change, the biopolitics of the metaverse, critical education, and philosophy for children from philosophical, pedagogical, political, and ethical perspectives. The contributions emphasize the role of philosophy and education as instruments of social transformation, critical dialogue, and the development of alternatives in response to economic, environmental, technological, and geopolitical crises.

The introductory text argues that phenomena such as the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, global inflation, poverty, and the environmental crisis underscore the need to strengthen educational and philosophical processes oriented toward cooperation, resilience, and the ethical formation of citizens. Likewise, the symposium proposes lines of inquiry focused on philosophy and education in the context of global crisis, globalization and war, the biopolitics of the metaverse, philosophy for children, and climate change.

Among the featured presentations is the keynote address by Pol Zayat, who reflects on philosophy as an instrument of social transformation through the lenses of popular education, cultural diversity, and the ecology of knowledge.  The author questions traditional forms of knowledge production and advocates for a philosophy grounded in specific territories, communities, and social realities.

The remaining contributions examine topics such as the philosophy of education, democratization and political power, academic anxiety, agile tools in education, the ethics of war, the metaverse, ecosophy, environmental education, critical thinking in children, violence, social skills, and the educational challenges emerging from the pandemic. Taken together, the proceedings reflect an interdisciplinary perspective aimed at understanding contemporary transformations through a critical, humanistic, and Latin American lens.
