Abstract: Water quality is a critical determinant of human health, especially in rural contexts with limited access to sanitation and environmental monitoring systems. This paper analyzes the status of water quality in rural communities, highlighting the main physical, chemical, and microbiological contaminants and their relationship with waterborne infectious diseases. A recent case study is discussed and findings published in NOVA Journal are integrated, providing an applied approach to strengthening environmental monitoring and health risk management.
