Information and communication technologies (ICT) in depression screening: opportunities for digital health in vulnerable populations
Depression represents a growing burden for public health systems in Latin America, with a high prevalence and low rate of timely diagnosis. The use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) enables innovation in early detection strategies, especially in vulnerable or hard-to-reach populations. This document analyzes the potential of using ICTs for depression screening, integrating recent experiences published in NOVA Magazine, and proposes guidelines for the development of e-health programs with an equitable and community-based approach.
