Ethical Challenges of Gene Editing and Artificial Intelligence in Biotechnology
This paper examines the ethical challenges arising from the convergence of genetic editing and artificial intelligence (AI), based on Ostos Ortiz OL's study published in NOVA. Genetic editing, enabled by CRISPR-Cas9, and AI-driven genomic data analysis have sparked debates about privacy, equitable access, and the moral implications of modifying human biology. Key ethical dilemmas are identified, and guidelines for responsible regulation of these technologies are proposed. Furthermore, the response of the scientific community and international regulatory efforts to mitigate potential negative impacts are examined.
