Automation for the billing indicator process using the digital tool “dashboard” Specialist Clinic S.A. Sogamoso, Boyacá
Objective. To implement a digital tool for monitoring management indicators related to the billing process and validation of Individual Health Service Provision Records (RIPS) at Clínica de Especialistas S.A., located in Sogamoso, Boyacá, with the aim of improving the quality, consistency, and timeliness of information used in institutional management. Method. A professional practice experience in Health Administration was developed to strengthen the Health Information System through the application of the PDCA cycle (Plan, Do, Check, Act). The process began with a diagnosis of the billing area and the identification of information inconsistencies, dependence on manual processes, delays in report consolidation, and limitations of the institutional software. In response, three control dashboards were designed and implemented in Microsoft Excel: Billing by Staff Dashboard, Unbilled Admissions Dashboard, and Monthly Billing Dashboard. Results. The implementation enabled the automation of key management indicator analysis, reduced the time required for information monitoring, strengthened control over the billing process, and facilitated the identification of pending procedures. It also contributed to reducing rework associated with operational errors and improving the quality and reliability of information used for RIPS generation and validation and for administrative decision-making. Conclusion. The incorporation of indicator-based dashboards represents a useful strategy for strengthening Health Information System processes, optimizing billing management, and supporting more efficient, timely, and reliable institutional information management.
