PHARMACOSAFETY IN LASA MEDICATIONS: APPLICATION OF AN IMPROVEMENT PLAN IN STORAGE TECHNIQUES AT DROGUERÍA BOTICA
Objective. To design and implement a protocol for the safe storage and handling of LASA (Look-Alike, Sound-Alike) medications at Droguería Botica, in order to reduce the risk of medication errors and strengthen patient safety. Method. A qualitative and descriptive research approach was conducted using surveys and direct observation of pharmacy staff. These tools allowed the identification of weaknesses in the storage, identification, and dispensing processes of LASA medications. Results. Weaknesses were identified in the recognition of LASA medications, lack of visible protocols, and the need for continuous staff training. As an improvement strategy, a differentiated labeling system was implemented, the physical organization of medications was reorganized, and training sessions were provided to the pharmacy team. Subsequently, staff perception showed high acceptance and effectiveness of the implemented protocol. Conclusion. The implementation of the protocol significantly contributed to strengthening pharmaceutical safety, improving the identification and handling of LASA medications and reducing the risk of medication errors.
