STRENGTHENING THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AT THE “MI MUNDO MÁGICO DE IDEAS” EDUCATIONAL CENTER: ASSESSMENT, INTERVENTION, AND INITIAL CONSOLIDATION OF THE OSH MANAGEMENT SYSTEM UNDER RESOLUTION 0312 OF 2019
Objective. To analyze the professional internship experience developed at the “Mi Mundo Mágico de Ideas” Early Childhood Education Center, a private institution located in Tibasosa, Boyacá, Colombia, focused on strengthening the initial implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), based on minimum standards assessment, gap identification, prioritization of interventions, and progressive short-term actions in accordance with Resolution 0312 of 2019. Method. A Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle-based approach was applied, including the initial evaluation of the OHSMS, worker surveys, hazard identification and risk assessment, matrix development, document organization, implementation and evaluation of training activities, statistical analysis of accident records, design of an inspection program, development of a job profile (profesiogram), and internal audit planning. The baseline diagnosis revealed a critical compliance level of 19/100, identifying structural gaps in documentation management, hazard identification, preventive training, epidemiological surveillance, adverse event analysis, and emergency preparedness. Results. Key outcomes include the formulation of the Occupational Health and Safety policy, updating of the hazard identification and risk assessment matrix (IPVR), development of the legal compliance matrix, structuring of procedures, implementation of a documented training program, statistical analysis of workplace accidents, creation of inspection formats, approval of the institutional job profile, establishment of the internal audit program, and strengthening of the OHS action plan. Conclusion. The professional practice contributed to the progressive consolidation of the OHSMS and fostered a more structured, participatory, and sustainable preventive safety culture within a small-scale educational institution.
