Objective. To analyze the professional internship experience developed at CIAM S.A.S. BIC, aimed at strengthening the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) through operational training activities, HSE inspections, hazard control, preventive campaigns, emergency preparedness and response, and strategies for the safe operation of equipment and small tools. Method. A practice-based applied approach was used, grounded in the review of the OHSMS, hazard analysis, direct observation at work sites, execution of HSE inspections, design of safety talks, review of critical procedures, participation in drills, and the development of the FIOPE methodology. This process was implemented in a high-risk (risk level V) infrastructure company, where continuous control of working conditions and preventive measures were required. Results. Safety talks and field-based training sessions were designed and implemented, along with preventive campaigns addressing road safety, distraction risks, speed limits, and noise-related hazards. HSE inspections were conducted in excavation, foundation, and field operation activities. Emergency response flowcharts were developed, a drill involving rotating equipment was carried out, and organizational emergency response capacity was assessed. Additionally, the FIOPE methodology was structured as a comprehensive training tool for operators and executing authorities. Conclusion. The professional practice contributed to the progressive improvement of the OHSMS by integrating training, inspection activities, operational risk control, and emergency preparedness, fostering worker participation and strengthening the organization’s safety culture.
