ANALYSIS OF THE SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE OF TECHNOLOGIES THAT SUPPORT HOME CARE FOR PATIENTS WITH RESPIRATORY DISEASES REQUIRING OXYGEN SUPPLEMENTATION VIA NASAL CANNULA
Objective. To analyze support strategies and technological tools applied to home care for patients with chronic respiratory diseases requiring oxygen therapy, with a focus on the needs of primary caregivers. Method. A literature review aimed at identifying advances, approaches, and limitations in the use of technologies and support strategies in home-based respiratory care. Results.
Findings show that, despite advances in digital health and clinical monitoring, most interventions focus on patient follow-up, with limited emphasis on caregiver education, guidance, and support. Gaps were also identified in the development of comprehensive technological models tailored to home care settings. Conclusions. There is a need to strengthen research and the development of technological solutions focused on supporting primary caregivers, in order to improve quality of care, patient safety, and caregiver responsiveness in home environments.
