POSTURAL HYGIENE AND ACTIVE BREAK CULTURE IN TELEWORK: AN ANALYSIS OF BIOMECHANICAL RISKS AS THE BASIS FOR A DIGITAL HEALTH INTERVENTION PROPOSAL
Objective. To analyze postural hygiene issues and the limited adoption of active breaks among teleworkers, within the context of the transformation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) toward home-based work environments. Method. A qualitative descriptive study based on a literature review of public health and digital health research lines related to telework and biomechanical risks. Results. The shift to home-based work has increased exposure to ergonomic risks due to inadequate furniture and prolonged static postures. Additionally, digital sedentarism and weak active break practices contribute to a higher incidence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders. Conclusions.
Telework represents an emerging public health challenge, as it affects not only workers’ physical well-being but also economic outcomes through increased occupational morbidity and associated healthcare costs.
