STRENGTHENING RURAL OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH: POSTURAL HYGIENE AND MANUAL HANDLING OF LOADS IN CITRUS GROWERS
This study examines the musculoskeletal risks faced by rural citrus-growing communities in the municipalities of Zapatoca and Los Santos, stemming from poor posture and manual handling practices. The main objective is to analyze occupational safety and health conditions surrounding agricultural work and to propose prevention strategies that contribute to establishing good practices in postural hygiene and manual handling of loads among rural workers. A qualitative approach was used, with data collection through a structured online survey, direct observation, and training. The results confirm the existence of inadequate posture and load handling practices in agricultural activities, as well as a lack of awareness of many prevention strategies. However, an interest in training and professional guidance provided in the field was evident, particularly regarding preventive mechanisms that promote the well-being of farmers and increase physical productivity in agricultural work.
