In the Calixto neighborhood, a community diagnostic initiative was carried out under the leadership of CIPAS Territoriales and the School of Health Sciences (ECISA), in collaboration with the vendors of the local marketplace. Through discussion sessions and direct observations, various needs related to the community’s physical and emotional well-being were identified. The working conditions of the vendors revealed an urgent need to promote self-care, implement active breaks, and incorporate physical activity as part of their daily routines.

During the process, significant gaps were also identified in access to clear and timely information, as well as to adequate health services. However, the most remarkable aspect was the community’s genuine interest in learning, organizing, and actively participating in health education processes. This collective commitment reflects their desire to transform living conditions and strengthen the social fabric from the ground up. The experience not only made existing problems visible but also created spaces for dialogue and joint construction, where health ceased to be a merely technical issue and became a shared cause.
