VOCES QUE SALVAN VIDAS: ESTRATEGIAS INNOVADORAS PARA LA PREVENCIÓN DEL SUICIDIO EN SANTA MARTA
Objective. To analyze the recent epidemiological situation of suicide in the District of Santa Marta and to propose innovative intervention strategies based on a community approach, emotional education, and the use of technological tools to promote mental well-being. Methodology. An analysis was conducted using data from the National Institute of Health (INS) and local sources to identify recent trends in suicide attempts and deaths. The document is presented as a working paper aimed at reflection and the formulation of context-specific intervention proposals for the territory. Results. The study shows sustained increases in suicide attempts, especially among young people and women, as well as a predominance of deaths by suicide among young adult men. These findings confirm the magnitude of the problem in Santa Marta and the need for specific responses for different population groups. Conclusion. The proposed strategies prioritize the strengthening of support networks, the creation of spaces for active listening, and intersectoral coordination as key elements to building more empathetic and resilient communities. The importance of innovating suicide prevention actions through community, educational, and technological approaches that respond to the structural inequalities present in the territory is emphasized.
