Educational proposal of the visual arts program of the Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia about the reflection, interpretation and systematization of works of art at public space in Colombia.

This proposal of educational innovation is based on artistic research methodologies and aims to study works of art in public spaces. Its development involves the students of the course “Introduction to visual arts” which makes part of the educational core “Artistic Thought and Visual Expression Transformation”. For being a first enrollment course with a high number of students, we have proposed some actions that enable student retention and that also stimulate the curiosity for the investigation of the visual universe in the cultural history of their territory. Therefore, this makes possible to go deeper into the subject regarding both, contemporary and modern processes in Colombian art, seen from the common scenario that we share as inhabitants: Public Space. Thus, the students ponder, visualize and get involved into the investigation, documentation and systematization processes of visual arts (contemporary paradigm of artistic work), based on the selection and study of a work of art that is located in the public space of the territory in which each one of them resides.
