Impact of the Vice-rector’s Office for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at UNAD University in Western Colombia: What Schools Know About the Management Carried Out in the Territory
This study analyzed the academic community's level of awareness regarding the services and management provided by the Vice-Presidency for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (VIEM) at the National Open and Distance University (UNAD)—specifically within the Western Zone—resulting from its collaborative work with the institution's various schools. A quantitative, cross-sectional method was selected, as the assessment was conducted over a specific timeframe. The first stage involved a literature review to contextualize the aspects for which entrepreneurship and innovation units in higher education institutions are recognized, serving as a starting point for the subsequent analysis at UNAD. The information gathered facilitated the design of a survey to collect primary data. A convenience sample was used, yielding 244 responses from members of the academic community (students, faculty, and alumni) as well as individuals outside the institution familiar with the university, thereby ensuring a wide range of perspectives. The results reveal a high level of interest in participating in the study among members of the schools and the various centers comprising the Western Zone. However, a notable finding is the low level of awareness regarding the activities carried out by the schools in cooperation with UNAD’s VIEM to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.
