Analysis of the Origin and Producing Areas of the Fruit SupplyforDuitama (Boyacá)
This academic document exhaustively analyzes the dynamics of fruit supply for the city of Duitama (Boyacá), consolidated as a strategic node and fundamental recipient within the agri-food corridor and this area of the department.
The primary objective of this paper is to characterize the geographical origin of the foods (fruits) that converge at the Duitama Supply Center and as specific objectives: a. Compile information from documentary sources on the planted areas in the municipalities of Norte de Boyacá, Santander, Norte de Santander, Arauca and Casanare. b. Synthesize and characterize the fruit supply by type of fruit coming from these territories destined for the city of Duitama.
The methodology is based on a systematic review of literature and a rigorous documentary analysis that integrates secondary data obtained from the Municipal Agricultural Evaluations (EVA) taking as reference the year 2024 about the area planted with fruit in the municipalities of Norte de Boyacá Santander, Norte de Santander, Arauca and Casanare.
The results allow the investigation to identify points of origin, duly documented through official sources; This is essential to examine the real fruit origin that supplies the municipality of Duitama. (Government of Boyacá, 2024).
It is concluded that Duitama's agri-food competitiveness lies in its role as an interregional node rather than in its consumption. Its food security depends on the municipalities of Norte Boyacá, Arauca, Casanare and Santanderes, as well as areas surrounding this city. Therefore, road failures affect the market. Integrated planning for a national logistics corridor is recommended.
