This study analyzes the economic factors that hinder the continuity of
entrepreneurial ventures in Facatativá, a municipality located in the department
of Cundinamarca, Colombia. Despite the growth of entrepreneurial spirit in
the region, many businesses fail to survive their first few years of operation.
For this research, structured surveys were administered to 120 entrepreneurs,
and 10 semi- structured interviews were conducted. Participants were selected
through purposive sampling, all located in urban areas of the municipality.
Fieldwork was carried out between January and June 2025.
The instruments used allowed for the identification of the main economic
barriers, including: difficulties in accessing financing, income instability,
high operating costs, and limited financial literacy. Additionally, the local
economic environment and its influence on business sustainability were
examined. The study concludes that, although public initiatives exist to foster
entrepreneurship, they do not effectively resolve the structural challenges faced
by entrepreneurs. The study proposes comprehensive strategies that include
financial education, access to microcredits, and local support networks.
