Online event multistreaming system - simulel, as a contribution to UNAD's foresight towards 2050
The text presents the design, development and implementation of the Multistreaming System for Online Events (SIMULEL) as a technological solution aimed at guaranteeing the continuity and expansion of massive academic events at the Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia, within the framework of the institutional evolution towards UNAD 4.0. The experience arose as a response to the mobility restrictions derived from the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to adapt face-to-face events to high-traffic virtual environments. SIMULEL is conceived as a platform that integrates simultaneous transmission of multimedia content from multiple sources, allowing users to select rooms and content of interest, and facilitating large-scale academic interaction. The development of the system was supported by agile software engineering methodologies, particularly SCRUM, favoring iterative processes, collaborative work and fast delivery of functionalities. The platform coordinates human and technological capabilities installed in the institution, optimizing infrastructure resources and strengthening knowledge management. The reported results show its use in numerous institutional events, with high levels of audience participation, stability of service and expansion of academic reach, contributing to the internationalization, inclusion, participation and digital transformation of educational processes in distance and virtual mode.
