The effects caused by the COVID-19 pandemic generated a scenario of uncertainty and caused the suspension of the academic training processes that take place in scenarios where the presence of students is essential, given that their interaction with their environment and reality favor the development of competencies that nurture their graduation profile.

Methodology: We reviewed strategies that would favor the development of professional practices. After a study of alternatives that would provide the optimal scenario for their development, protecting the health of students, the strategy for the development of professional practices mediated by a Hospital Information System was implemented.

Results: We were able to intervene in the delay generated by the suspension of the professional practices of the students enrolled in the academic periods where the immediate impact of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic was reflected, and we also guaranteed the development of the practices for the students enrolled in the following academic periods. In conclusion, it is necessary to evaluate the articulation and integration of digital resources with the development of the activities that take place in the physical scenarios where the student performs the professional practices.
