Research per se responds to problems, needs and knowledge gaps in different disciplines; in this context, the Colombian territories offer a multitude of questions that can be answered by the scientific method. In recent years, the CAZAO research group of ECAPMA has been developing a process of collective construction of research proposals, in which its researchers have left the academic spaces to listen and understand the socioeconomic, environmental and productive problems, especially in the agricultural, agroindustrial and environmental guilds in the Department of Casanare. With their technical, scientific and administrative skills, the group's researchers have contributed to the formulation, presentation and development of research projects and the social appropriation of knowledge under an interdisciplinary, interinstitutional, collaborative, participatory and open approach with the stakeholders of the territory.

This presentation aims to show the milestones that to date have marked the growth process of the CAZAO research group in the Department of Casanare, through the construction of alliances with social, governmental and private actors, the application of research-action-participation techniques, interdisciplinary research and the strengthening and empowerment of its researchers. In this way, UNAD has consolidated its position as an important actor, a reference and strategic ally for many other institutions that are present in the region and wish to carry out research and development processes in rural areas of the department.
