Proceedings of the Intersectoral Meeting on Occupational Safety and Health

The Intersectoral Meeting on Occupational Safety and Health: Experiences from the Primary Economic Sector was held as an academic and scientific forum aimed at strengthening knowledge, exchanging experiences, and fostering intersectoral coordination regarding occupational safety and health (OSH) in activities within the primary economic sector. The event was organized by Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia (UNAD), the National Institute of Health, and Universidad del Rosario, with the support of academic institutions and organizations specializing in occupational health and public health.

The proceedings bring together lectures, research, and experiences focused on contemporary issues related to occupational health, agriculture, occupational hazards, social inequality, occupational diseases, telework, social engagement with knowledge, and working conditions in the agricultural and agro-industrial sectors. Among the central themes addressed are the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on workers in the primary sector, difficulties in accessing health services and social protection, exposure to physical, chemical, and ergonomic risks, as well as the need to strengthen public policies and prevention strategies in rural and productive contexts.

The document also highlights the importance of cooperation among academia, government, international organizations, and the productive sector to generate scientific evidence that contributes to decision-making in public health and occupational safety. Similarly, it emphasizes the need to address the conditions of social vulnerability among agricultural workers, especially in contexts of economic inequality, informal employment, and health crises.

The proceedings also include a section of scientific posters related to pesticide exposure, ornamental aquaculture, prevention of workplace accidents in the banana sector, and ergonomic monitoring in extractive activities, demonstrating the event's focus on integrating applied experiences and research findings aimed at improving working conditions across various productive sectors.
