3rd international congress on psychology, territories, and communities: knowledge and possibilities for construction from participatory praxis – 13th international symposium on community social psychology: voices and narratives from the territory
The 3rd International Congress of Psychology - Psychology, Territories and Communities, was established as a fundamental space for the exchange of knowledge among the various social actors in connection with the territories. This event, organized by the Psychology Program of the Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia (UNAD), had the general objective of promoting a reflective vision of psychosocial praxis, which contributes to the construction of situated alternatives in the face of emerging challenges and realities. The cross-cutting themes that guided the discussions and activities of the Congress included the dynamics of manifest, ongoing and emerging gender violence, where the causes, explanatory models and specific social contexts were addressed. In addition, the processes and dynamics of migration and social mobilities were explored, analyzing the identities and subjectivities involved, as well as the cultural impacts and intercultural interactions. Another crucial axis was mental health and community mental health, covering psychosocial risk factors in diverse multicultural contexts, the emergence of new family structures and frameworks for action through public policies of care, quality of life and well-being. Since its inception in 2011, this event has been a leading initiative of the UNAD Psychology Program to revitalize the social fabric impacted by humanitarian challenges and rebuild new pathways for human development. In 2021, after ten editions, the event evolved from being the International Symposium on Community Social Psychology to become the International Congress of Psychology. This transformation made it possible to broaden the spaces for discussion, deepen the contents and themes and include new methodologies and fields of application, both disciplinary and interdisciplinary, with the Symposium remaining as a central element for reflections on Social and Community Psychology. The Congress, itinerant by nature, has highlighted the cultural aspects of the different areas of Colombia, thus strengthening its integral and academic character. Throughout its history, it has been able to identify the institution's strengths and opportunities for improvement, projecting itself over time and facing the challenges demanded by new organizational developments. This meeting is conceived as a space for dialog, reflection and proposals in the face of multiple realities, always taking the communities and subjects immersed in them into consideration.
